Several new faces and established stars are making headlines in the latest Hitter Power Rankings, released on April 16 by MLB.com. The rankings reflect performances a few weeks into the 2026 Major League Baseball season, with both breakout hitters and healthy veterans climbing the list.
The rankings matter because they highlight early trends among top offensive players, offering insight into which athletes are having an immediate impact this season. These updates also serve as a reference for fans tracking their favorite players’ progress.
Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers remains at number one after leading preseason polls. He is currently batting .254 with five home runs and has extended his on-base streak to 48 games, which is among the longest for a Dodgers player since 1900. Yordan Alvarez of the Astros enters the list after returning from injury; he leads all qualifiers with a .799 expected slugging percentage and has drawn significant attention from pitchers with his high walk rate. Aaron Judge of the Yankees holds third place despite what some consider a slow start for him, posting three home runs in his last three games and maintaining strong overall numbers.
Other notable names include Jordan Walker of the Cardinals, who leads Major League Baseball with eight home runs—a marked improvement over last season—and Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies, who continues to demonstrate power hitting following a career-high year. Corbin Carroll of Arizona has overcome an early-season injury to deliver impressive results across multiple offensive categories.
Additional players receiving votes were Mike Trout (Angels), Oneil Cruz (Pirates), Matt Olson (Braves), Bobby Witt Jr. (Royals), James Wood (Nationals), Brice Turang (Brewers), Yandy Díaz (Rays), Drake Baldwin (Braves), Sal Stewart (Reds) and Chase DeLauter (Guardians). The panel included David Adler, Jason Catania, Theo DeRosa, Jared Greenspan, Brent Maguire, Max Ralph and Manny Randhawa.
As more games are played this season, observers will watch whether these surging hitters can maintain their momentum or if new breakout stars will emerge.
