St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Packy Naughton has suffered ligament damage in his left pitching elbow, manager Oli Marmol said on Apr. 12 at Busch Stadium.

This development is significant for the team and for Naughton, who has faced several injury setbacks over recent years. The Cardinals are expected to determine a course of action for Naughton’s recovery in the coming days.

Naughton last played in Major League Baseball with St. Louis during the 2023 season and is currently not on the club’s 40-man roster. He was removed from a Triple-A Memphis game on Wednesday after showing discomfort following an errant pitch.

Previously, Naughton missed the entire 2025 season due to a re-tear of a previously repaired flexor tendon and underwent surgery for a torn ulnar collateral ligament late in 2024.

The news marks another setback for Naughton as he continues to deal with recurring injuries.
