In their previous game before a bye week, St. Louis CITY SC secured a 3-1 away win over Austin FC, marking their third straight victory on the road. Marcel Hartel scored twice, while Simon Becher added a late goal. Over their last five matches, St. Louis has collected ten points out of a possible fifteen, scoring nine goals during that period.

Earlier this season, St. Louis lost to Real Salt Lake 3-2, with goals from Klauss and Josh Yaro. Since their first meeting in 2023—a 4-0 win for St. Louis—CITY has earned only one point from three subsequent matches against RSL. Real Salt Lake currently leads the all-time series with two wins, one loss, and one draw against St. Louis.

Real Salt Lake enters the match in ninth place in the Western Conference, holding the final playoff position with a record of twelve wins, seventeen losses, and four draws. Their away form has been poor this season, with three wins, ten losses, and three draws on the road, including four consecutive away defeats. Diego Luna is RSL’s top scorer with nine goals and also leads the team with seven assists.
