St. Louis CITY SC has announced the acquisition of South Korean forward Sangbin Jeong from Minnesota United. The deal includes a cash-for-player trade valued at $1.6 million, with an additional $400,000 contingent on performance incentives. Sangbin will maintain his U22 Initiative roster designation and current contract through the 2025 season, with an option for 2026. Minnesota United retains a sell-on percentage for any future transfers.
"Sangbin is an exciting attacking player with great pace and creativity in the final third," said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. "He brings versatility to our attack, the ability to stretch defenses with his runs in behind, and a high work rate that fits perfectly with our intense style of play. We’re always looking to add young, dynamic players with high potential, and we believe our system will allow him to showcase his qualities and reach another level in his development."
Sangbin joined Minnesota United in 2023, making 70 regular-season appearances and scoring nine goals along with two assists over 36 starts. Prior to MLS, he was on loan at Grasshoppers Club Zürich in Switzerland during the 2022–23 season where he made 15 appearances. He began his professional career at Suwon Samsung Bluewings after signing his first contract in 2020.
Internationally, Sangbin has played for South Korea's U17, U23 teams and made his senior debut during a FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Sri Lanka in 2021.
The transaction details include St. Louis CITY SC acquiring attacker Sangbin Jeong from Minnesota United for $1.6 million plus up to $400,000 based on performance incentives.
