JJ Wetherholt, the top prospect for the St. Louis Cardinals and ranked sixth overall by MLB, recorded his second three-hit game in five weeks since joining Triple-A Memphis. Wetherholt, who was selected seventh overall in the 2024 Draft, has maintained strong performance since his promotion from the Texas League, where he was among the league leaders in hitting. In 26 games with the Redbirds, he is batting .310 with a 1.073 OPS, nine home runs, and three stolen bases. The 22-year-old is one of only five Minor League Baseball players this season to have at least a .300 average, .500 slugging percentage, 15 home runs, and 15 steals.
Other notable performances across Minor League Baseball included Jesús Made of High-A Wisconsin (Milwaukee Brewers), who doubled twice and reached base three times in his eleventh game at that level; Charlie Condon of Double-A Hartford (Colorado Rockies), who hit his seventh home run of the year; Carson Williams of Triple-A Durham (Tampa Bay Rays), who homered for the eighth time on a Sunday this season; Slade Caldwell of High-A Hillsboro (Arizona Diamondbacks), who collected three doubles as part of a four-hit game; Ben Hess of Double-A Somerset (New York Yankees), who struck out five over six scoreless innings; Michael Forret of Double-A Chesapeake (Baltimore Orioles), who had seven strikeouts over six innings in his debut at that level; and Victor Lizarraga of Double-A San Antonio (San Diego Padres), who pitched 6 2/3 hitless innings.
