St Louis CITY2 will play Houston Dynamo 2 for the last time in the regular season on Sunday, August 31, at SaberCats Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on mlsnextpro.com.
Last weekend, CITY2 secured a 3-0 victory, marking their eighth shutout of the season and extending their unbeaten run to fourteen matches. Miguel Perez scored twice, achieving his first professional brace. The team also benefited from an own goal by Kansas City to secure three points.
Perez’s two goals brought his season total to eight, making him second on the team in scoring. Brendan McSorley recorded his seventh assist of the year, while Matteo Kidd added his third assist. Goalkeeper Lucas McPartlin made his professional debut and earned a shutout.
With this win, CITY2 matched their goal tally from the previous season with 53 goals. They are currently two points short of matching last year’s total of 56 points and need one more win to tie their 2024 win total of 17. The team has already surpassed last year's assists number with 32 so far in 2025.
CITY2 has faced Houston Dynamo 2 twice this season, winning both matches—a 3-1 result in May and a 1-0 victory in June. Emil Jääskeläinen, Brendan McSorley, and Miguel Perez scored in the first meeting; Jääskeläinen scored the only goal in the second encounter.
Houston Dynamo 2 is currently ranked eleventh in the Western Conference but remains three points away from a playoff position. In August, they recorded their only win with a 3-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City II. At SaberCats Stadium, Houston holds a home record of five wins, four losses, and two draws.
