St Louis CITY2 will host LAFC2 at Energizer Park on Sunday night in their final regular season home match of the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. CT and will be available for live viewing on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
CITY2 recently extended their unbeaten streak to 17 matches with a 2-1 victory over Austin FC II in Texas. Miguel Perez and Emil Jääskeläinen contributed goals, marking their ninth and seventh of the season respectively, which helped secure CITY2’s series win over Austin FC II. With this result, CITY2 clinched the best record in the Western Conference and secured the number one seed, ensuring that at least three playoff rounds will take place at Energizer Park.
A win against LAFC2 on Sunday would allow CITY2 to set a new record for most wins in a regular season, surpassing last year’s total of 17 victories.
This upcoming match marks CITY2’s last regular season home appearance before entering the playoffs. The team holds an 8-1-4 home record this year, having lost only once back in April. They have scored 26 goals at home while conceding 10.
The previous meeting between CITY2 and LAFC2 occurred in October 2024 during the first round of the MLS NEXT Pro playoffs. Mykhi Joyner scored a decisive goal in second half stoppage time at Energizer Park, sending CITY2 into the next round. Overall, CITY2 holds a 3-0-1 record against LAFC2 and remains undefeated both at home and away in these encounters.
LAFC2 currently ranks eleventh in the Western Conference standings with 32 points and a record of nine wins, fourteen losses, and three draws. The team has struggled away from home this season, securing just three road victories while losing eight times. Forward Tommy Mihalić leads LAFC2 with nine goals scored, while midfielder Matt Evans has provided seven assists. In their most recent outing, LAFC2 lost 3-1 to Real Monarchs at home.
