St. Louis CITY SC has announced the acquisition of left back Devin Padelford on loan from Minnesota United FC. The loan agreement is set to last until December 31, 2025. As part of this arrangement, Minnesota United will receive St. Louis CITY SC's natural third-round pick in the upcoming 2026 MLS SuperDraft.

Padelford's career in Major League Soccer (MLS) began when he became Minnesota's first Homegrown Player, signing from the club’s Academy in 2022. He started his professional journey with MNUFC2, the MLS NEXT Pro side of Minnesota, where he made a significant impact with 22 starts and one assist.

“Devin is a young player who has already shown maturity and potential at the MLS level,” said Lutz Pfannestiel. “His ability to get forward from the left side, combined with his defensive instincts, will provide us with another option as we push through the end of the season.”

In the 2024 season, Padelford solidified his position as a regular player for Minnesota, making 24 appearances including 19 starts. He recorded his first MLS assist against Sporting Kansas City on April 1 of that year. Since his debut with the first team in 2023, Padelford has participated in a total of 41 matches across all competitions for MNUFC, setting a record for most appearances by a homegrown player in club history. His first professional goal was scored on July 8, 2023, against Austin FC.

TRANSACTION: St. Louis CITY SC acquires defender Devin Padelford on loan from Minnesota United FC through December 31, 2025, in exchange for CITY SC’s natural third-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.
