Louisville Slugger has named the National League finalists for the 2025 Silver Slugger Award, with the announcement made on Wednesday. The American League finalists are set to be revealed on Thursday.

The winners in the National League will be announced on Thursday, November 6, at 6 p.m. ET. The American League winners will be revealed the following night at the same time. Both announcements will be streamed on The Baseball Insiders' YouTube channel.

The selection process for both position finalists and winners involves a vote by National League managers and coaches. Each team in the league is allotted four votes, which are cast by the manager and three coaches of their choosing. The votes take into account various offensive statistics such as OPS, OPS+, home runs, RBI, batting average, total bases, and runs. In addition to these metrics, the general impressions of a player's overall offensive value by managers and coaches are also considered.

Among the utility player finalists, two members of the St. Louis Cardinals, Alec Burleson and Brendan Donovan, have been recognized. The third finalist in this category is Jake Cronenworth of the San Diego Padres.

The full list of National League position finalists includes:

First base: Pete Alonso (New York Mets), Freddie Freeman (Los Angeles Dodgers), Matt Olson (Atlanta Braves)

Second base: Nico Hoerner (Chicago Cubs), Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks), Brice Turang (Milwaukee Brewers)

Third base: Matt Chapman (San Francisco Giants), Manny Machado (San Diego Padres), Max Muncy (Los Angeles Dodgers), Austin Riley (Atlanta Braves)

Shortstop: Francisco Lindor (New York Mets), Geraldo Perdomo (Arizona Diamondbacks), Trea Turner (Philadelphia Phillies)

Outfield: Corbin Carroll (Arizona Diamondbacks), Pete Crow-Armstrong (Chicago Cubs), Juan Soto (New York Mets), Kyle Stowers (Miami Marlins), Kyle Tucker (Chicago Cubs), James Wood (Washington Nationals)

Catcher: William Contreras (Milwaukee Brewers), Hunter Goodman (Colorado Rockies), Will Smith (Los Angeles Dodgers)

Designated Hitter: Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers), Kyle Schwarber (Philadelphia Phillies), Christian Yelich (Milwaukee Brewers)

Utility: Alec Burleson (St. Louis Cardinals), Jake Cronenworth (San Diego Padres), Brendan Donovan (St. Louis Cardinals)

"Position finalists and winners are determined by a vote of National League managers and coaches who cast ballots for players at each position in their league. Each NL team receives four (4) votes; the manager and three coaches of the team’s choice. Votes are based on a combination of offensive statistics including OPS, OPS+, home runs, RBI, batting average, total bases and runs, as well as the managers’ and coaches’ general impressions of a player’s overall offensive value."

The announcement highlights recognition for players across several teams, including multiple nominations for the St. Louis Cardinals in the utility category.
