St. Louis CITY SC has announced that midfielder Rasmus Alm will be placed on the 2025 Season-Ending Injury List. This decision follows a diagnosis of osteitis pubis, sports hernia injuries, and related adductor strains. The club's medical team and specialists advised this course of action to ensure Alm's complete recovery.
Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel expressed his sentiments regarding the situation: “Rasmus has shown incredible determination and professionalism while battling this injury since our inaugural season, which makes this even more heartbreaking." He added, "But after talking with our medical staff, and understanding the time needed for a full recovery, it makes sense for both him and the club to allow Rasmus to focus entirely on his recovery.”
According to Major League Soccer (MLS) regulations, placing a player on the Season-Ending Injury List opens up a roster spot for St. Louis CITY SC. However, it also renders Alm ineligible for any remaining first-team competitions this season. This includes MLS matches and official tournaments such as Leagues Cup, Campeones Cup, CONCACAF Champions Cup, and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
