St Louis CITY2 falls to Minnesota United FC 2 in conference semifinal

St Louis CITY2 was defeated 2-0 by Minnesota United FC 2 in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Semifinal held on Sunday night at Energizer Park. The match saw Minnesota secure a spot in the Western Conference Final after goals from Logan Dorsey and Darius Randell.

The first goal came in the 17th minute when Logan Dorsey scored with a right-footed shot from outside the box, assisted by Alpha Kabia. Darius Randell added to Minnesota’s lead in the 80th minute, heading in a pass from Curt Calov.

Minnesota recorded 12 total shots with seven on target, while St Louis CITY2 managed 17 shots with five on goal. Both teams had five saves each. In terms of discipline, Kieran Chandler of Minnesota received a caution in the 75th minute, Caden Glover of St Louis CITY2 was cautioned in the 84th minute, and Roman Torres of Minnesota was booked during stoppage time.

The starting lineup for St Louis CITY2 included goalkeeper Christian Olivares; defenders Tyson Pearce, Gabriel Mikina, Cam Cilley, and Miguel Perez (replaced by Dida Armstrong in the 74th minute); midfielders Wan Kuzain, Seth Antwi, Brendan McSorley, Mykhi Joyner, Matteo Kidd (substituted by Caden Glover in the 59th minute); and forward Emil Jääskeläinen. Unused substitutes were Colin Welsh, Emiliano Chavez, Evan Carlock, Lorenzo Cornelius, Alex Jundt, Lucas Demitra, and Chidube Nwankwo.

Minnesota United FC 2 started with Kayne Rizvanovich as goalkeeper; defenders Britton Fischer and Babacar Niang (replaced by Anderson Farris in the 63rd minute), along with Alpha Kabia; midfielders Alexis Farina (substituted by Curt Calov in the 73rd minute), Kieran Chandler, Roman Torres, Loic Mesanvi, Momoh Kamara; forwards Troy Putt (replaced by Muba Nour late in the match) and Logan Dorsey (substituted by Alisa Randell). Substitute Kai Zeruhn along with Mukisa Kiingi, Justin Sousnouski and Keith Romanshyn did not play.

Referee Gerald Flores officiated the match alongside assistant referees Christian Clerc and Seun Yinka-Kehinde. Iryna Petrunok served as fourth official.
