St Louis CITY2 is set to face Austin FC II at Parmer Field on Friday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. CT. The match could see the team achieve its eighth consecutive win, marking a historic moment in MLS NEXT Pro. Fans can watch the game via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

The team secured their seventh consecutive victory last Sunday by defeating Real Monarchs 3-1, tying the existing MLS NEXT Pro win streak record held by Columbus Crew 2, Crown Legacy FC, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. Interim head coach John Hackworth has led the team to five straight wins since his appointment on June 4.

Brendan McSorley scored early in the 26th minute for CITY2, but Real Monarchs equalized four minutes later. In the second half, Emil Jääskeläinen restored CITY2's lead before Matteo Kidd sealed the victory with a third goal. This triumph placed CITY2 at the top of MLS NEXT Pro’s overall standings with 35 points and marked their 11th win of the season.

McSorley and Jääskeläinen both recorded their fifth goals of the season and contributed their fourth assists. Kidd added his fourth goal of the season as well. Homegrown players Tyson Pearce and Mykhi Joyner earned assists during this period too. Six players have scored two or more goals this season: Mykhi Joyner, Brendan McSorley, Emil Jääskeläinen, Matteo Kidd, Miguel Perez, and Gabriel Mikina.

In their previous encounter on March 30 against Austin FC II at Energizer Park, St Louis emerged victorious after a penalty shootout (5-4). Last season saw CITY2 winning all three meetings against ATX II. Currently sitting sixth in the Western Conference with a record of 5-4-6 and totaling 24 points, Austin enters Friday's match on a four-game unbeaten streak with recent victories over North Texas SC (2-1), Portland Timbers2 (penalty shootout), Sporting KC II (1-0), and LAFC 2 (4-1). At Parmer Field this season, Austin holds a record of 3-1-4.
