The St. Louis Cardinals have secured their top pick in the 2025 MLB Draft by signing Liam Doyle, a left-handed pitcher from Tennessee. Doyle was selected as the fifth overall pick and is recognized for his impressive fastball, which averages 96 mph and can reach up to 100 mph. The Cardinals signed him to a below-slot deal with a signing bonus of $7,250,000 against a pick value of $8,134,800.

Doyle's performance at the collegiate level has been noteworthy as he led NCAA Division I in strikeouts last season. His addition to the Cardinals is expected to strengthen their pitching lineup significantly.

Teams have until July 28 at 5 p.m. ET to finalize agreements with their draft selections unless the player has exhausted collegiate eligibility, allowing them more flexibility in signing timeframes.
