St. Louis CITY SC has signed defender Jaziel Orozco to a first-team contract for the remainder of the 2025 MLS season. The club holds options for extending his contract through 2026, 2027, and 2028. Orozco, who is 21 years old, has shown strong performances with the first team as a short-term call-up from CITY2.

Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel commented on Orozco's capabilities: “Jaziel has been a standout leader for CITY2 this season and has shown composure, hunger, and quality whenever he’s stepped into the first-team environment.” He further noted Orozco's ability to read the game and adapt to different positions.

This season, Orozco played in all 15 matches for CITY2, contributing significantly to one of the top defenses in MLS NEXT Pro. His efforts helped CITY2 achieve the best record in the league.

Orozco started his professional career with Real Salt Lake, making his MLS debut at 18 years old in March 2022 before joining CITY2 ahead of the current season. He is now the 11th player to transition from CITY2 to St. Louis CITY SC's first team and one of 26 players to have played for both teams.

The transaction confirms St. Louis CITY SC's ongoing strategy of promoting young talent from within their ranks.
