The St. Louis Cardinals have traded pitcher Erick Fedde and cash considerations to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for a player to be named later or additional cash. The move ends Fedde's time with the Cardinals, which began nearly one year ago after he was acquired in a three-team deal involving the White Sox and Dodgers.

Fedde, 32, was designated for assignment last Wednesday following a difficult stretch on the mound. Over his most recent 12 starts, he did not record a win. In his latest outing against Colorado, Fedde gave up seven hits, six runs, and two home runs in just three innings. For the season, he posted a 3-10 record with a 5.22 ERA across 20 starts.

The trade marks another shift since last summer's multi-team deal that brought both Tommy Pham and Fedde to St. Louis while sending utility player Tommy Edman to Los Angeles. Edman won the National League Championship Series MVP in 2024 but has struggled this season with a .225 batting average and .280 on-base percentage for the Dodgers.

During his stint with the White Sox prior to joining St. Louis, Fedde secured seven wins in 2024 before being traded midseason. After reporting fatigue late last year with St. Louis, he finished out 2024 with a 2-5 record and a 3.72 ERA over ten starts before concluding his time as a Cardinal at 5-15 with a 4.69 ERA across thirty games.

"Fedde won seven games with the White Sox in 2024 before being traded to St. Louis, where he reported fatigue late last season."

The Cardinals will receive either an unnamed player or additional cash from Atlanta as part of this transaction.
