The St. Louis Blues, FanDuel Sports Network, and 101 ESPN have announced changes to their game broadcast and studio show lineup for the upcoming season. Chris Kerber, who has been the radio play-by-play voice for the Blues for 25 years, and analyst Joey Vitale will move to television as part of a new simulcast model with 101 ESPN.

As part of these changes, John Kelly’s contract as the television play-by-play announcer was not renewed. Kelly had been associated with the Blues’ broadcasts for two decades, after earlier stints with other NHL teams.

“Chris Kerber arrived 25 years ago this summer to the St. Louis Blues, establishing himself early on as one of the league’s most energetic and colorful radio play-by-play voices,” said Chris Zimmerman, Blues President and CEO of Business Operations. “The Blues and FanDuel Sports Network believe that Chris has earned this moment and opportunity to connect with a much broader audience. When factoring in the exceptional chemistry and relationship Chris has had with Joey Vitale as his radio analyst over the past seven seasons, we are confident the Blues and FanDuel Sports Network will offer our fans the best television and streaming experience in the game, all while continuing to serve listeners with the same quality product on 101 ESPN.”

Norby Williamson, President of Production and Programming at FanDuel Sports Network, added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Chris and Joey to an expanded role on our television coverage. Their natural chemistry, deep knowledge of the game, and passion for Blues hockey make them a perfect fit for this next chapter. This move allows us to deliver a more unified and dynamic broadcast experience to fans across all platforms.”

John Kijowski, President of Hubbard Radio St. Louis said: “We’re proud to be able to share the trusted voices of Chris Kerber and Joey Vitale with the Blues’ television and streaming audience moving forward, while continuing to bring St. Louis Blues hockey to fans on 101 ESPN. Chris and Joey have built a strong connection with our listeners, and their insight, energy, and love for the game are unmatched. As platforms evolve, we are excited by the fact that all Blues fans will get the consistent passion and precision that Chris and Joey bring to every call.”

Additional updates include Jamie Rivers returning as a studio analyst after two years as game analyst; Hockey Hall of Fame members Bernie Federko (marking his 25th season) and Chris Pronger will both have increased roles; Andy Strickland expands rinkside reporting duties; Scott Warmann continues hosting home games; Alexa Datt departs after four years.

Kelly began his career in St. Louis before taking similar roles elsewhere in the NHL but returned in 2005-06 when Fox Sports Midwest held local rights.

“John Kelly’s legacy as the television voice of the Blues will forever be treasured and respected,” Zimmerman said. “John holds a place of high honor with the St. Louis Blues, and we plan to pay tribute to John and his amazing career calling our games in the season ahead. John Kelly will always be part of our family.”

Williamson added: “We want to sincerely thank John for his exceptional work in the booth throughout his career. He’s been a true pro and solid ambassador for the Blues organization, and we deeply appreciate the impact he’s made over the years.”

The partnership between FanDuel Sports Network Midwest—also home broadcaster for MLB's Cardinals—and 101 ESPN is entering its second year under a multi-year agreement designed to reach audiences via TV broadcasts https://fanduelsportsnetwork.com/, streaming services https://fanduelsportsnetwork.com/, as well as traditional radio coverage.

“The landscape for local broadcasting rights is in constant change throughout industry,” Zimmerman said about ongoing developments affecting sports media distribution.

Kerber is now recognized as longest-serving play-by-play announcer in team history; Vitale joined him seven seasons ago after six years playing professionally—including time spent analyzing pregame/postgame shows on TV over recent seasons.

The St. Louis Blues franchise has competed since joining NHL in 1967—winning one Stanley Cup title so far—and remains active through community programs like "Blues For Kids." The club's charitable efforts have provided significant support locally through investments from their foundation.
