St Louis CITY2 and Houston Dynamo 2 played to a 2-2 draw at SaberCats Stadium on Sunday night. After regulation, Houston Dynamo 2 secured an extra point by winning the penalty shootout 4-3. The result extends CITY2’s unbeaten streak to 15 matches.
Houston opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Tomás Romero scored with a header from the center of the box. Four minutes later, Gabriel Mikina equalized for CITY2 off a corner kick, finishing with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. In the second half, Caden Glover gave CITY2 a 2-1 lead with his third goal of the season, but Joshua Bolma tied it for Houston in the 70th minute.
The match proceeded to penalties after ending level at full time. Despite losing in the shootout, CITY2 earned one point from the match.
Postgame notes highlight that Gabriel Mikina now leads all CITY2 defenders in goals scored this season after netting his third goal. Caden Glover also reached three goals for the year. Brendan McSorley recorded his eighth assist of the campaign. With two goals on Sunday, CITY2 has surpassed their total from last season and now has 55 goals in 2025.
The teams’ lineups included Pedro Cruz as goalkeeper for Houston and Colin Welsh for St Louis. Both sides made several substitutions throughout the match.
