Brendan Donovan, the Cardinals' second baseman, has been selected for his first MLB All-Star Game. This announcement was made on Sunday by manager Oli Marmol in the visitors' clubhouse at Wrigley Field. Donovan expressed his excitement and gratitude for the recognition, stating, "I think it’s really cool... I’m just very excited to represent this organization."

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place at Atlanta's Truist Park on July 15. Donovan's journey to this achievement is marked by hard work and perseverance. Manager Marmol praised him, saying, “When you think about that style of player, it’s not this big-time prospect. It’s this guy who’s just grinding his way to the big leagues.”

Donovan debuted in the major leagues in 2022 and quickly became known for his versatility on the field. This season, he has primarily played second base but also appeared at shortstop and left field. He currently holds a .296 batting average and leads his team with a .798 OPS.

Despite the Cardinals' recent struggles against their rivals, including an 11-0 loss to the Cubs on Sunday, Donovan remains focused on improving his game. Reflecting on his approach, he said, “You can’t let something like this snowball... just get right back to work.”

Erick Fedde's performance in Sunday's game was disappointing as he allowed three earned runs over four outs. Marmol acknowledged the need for adjustments moving forward.

The Cardinals continue to seek consistency in their lineup while relying on Donovan's contributions both offensively and defensively.
