JJ Wetherholt, the top prospect for the St. Louis Cardinals, continued to show his skills at Triple-A Memphis with a strong performance on August 4. By the fourth inning, Wetherholt had already singled and scored twice before hitting a two-run home run. This was his sixth homer in 16 games since being promoted to Triple-A and his 13th overall this season. Through those 16 games with Memphis, he has posted a .344 batting average and a 1.179 OPS.

“Wetherholt singled and scored in each of his first two at-bats and connected for a two-run homer in the fourth, his sixth in 16 games at Triple-A and 13th on the season,” according to the report. “The 22-year-old hasn't been in Triple-A for a month yet, but he's already making the case for a late-season callup.”

Other prospects across Minor League Baseball also delivered notable performances. Dakota Jordan of San Jose had five hits including a home run, while Bryce Eldridge hit another home run for Sacramento despite time missed due to injury this season. Charlie Condon used his speed to turn an outfield error into a three-run triple for Hartford.

Dylan Beavers from Norfolk continued his hot streak by hitting two home runs as part of a three-hit game. Mikey Romero recorded six RBIs with two home runs for Worcester, and Victor Arias hit his first two homers since moving up to Double-A New Hampshire.

On the mound, Gage Jump limited batters over three perfect innings for Midland, Mick Abel struck out seven over five one-hit innings for St. Paul after being acquired at the trade deadline, Jake Bennett pitched five hitless frames for Harrisburg, and Fernando Perez gave up just one hit across six scoreless innings for Vancouver.

The recent performances come as several players adjust to new teams or levels following trades or promotions around Major League Baseball’s trade deadline period.
