St Louis CITY2 will host Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday, August 10 at 6:00 p.m. CT in their final regular season meeting at Energizer Park. The match will be available for live streaming on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
CITY2 extended its unbeaten run to 11 matches after a 4-2 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 in Burnaby, British Columbia, on Wednesday night. Mykhi Joyner scored his 12th goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 29th minute. Vancouver equalized during first half stoppage time, but Cam Cilley restored CITY2’s lead just one minute later before halftime. Brendan McSorley added a third goal early in the second half, marking his seventh of the season. After Vancouver narrowed the gap, Emil Jääskeläinen secured the win with a goal in the 86th minute.
With this result, Joyner is now tied for second place in goals scored across MLS NEXT Pro with 12. Cilley has scored in consecutive matches, while McSorley remains second among CITY2 players for goals this season. Jääskeläinen’s latest effort brings his tally to six.
During their current streak, CITY2 has collected 32 out of a possible 33 points and achieved their 14th win of the campaign—seven of which have come away from home. Interim head coach John Hackworth remains undefeated since taking charge on June 4 and was recently named MLS NEXT Pro’s Coach of the Month for July.
Earlier this year, St Louis faced Colorado Rapids 2 twice—losing at home by a single goal in April and winning with a late comeback in Denver in June. Rapids 2 are currently third in the Western Conference standings with a record of ten wins, six losses, and four draws (35 points). Their road record mirrors their home performance at five wins, three losses, and two draws each. In their most recent outing on August 2, Colorado defeated North Texas SC by a score of 4-1. Billo Diop leads Colorado’s scoring with eight goals this season while Antony García has provided five assists.
