JJ Wetherholt, the top prospect for the St. Louis Cardinals and ranked No. 6 overall by MLB, hit another leadoff home run for Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday night. This marks his sixth leadoff homer and seventh overall in just 83 at-bats since joining the club last month. Wetherholt, who also singled later in the game, is currently batting .301 with a .417 on-base percentage and a .513 slugging percentage across two Minor League levels this season.
Kevin McGonigle, now recognized as the No. 2 prospect in baseball, had his first professional two-homer game for Double-A Erie (Detroit Tigers organization). He drove in four runs during the contest and has maintained strong numbers since his promotion to Double-A.
Other top prospects also contributed notable performances around Minor League Baseball. Ethan Holliday debuted for Single-A Fresno with two hits after being drafted fourth overall last month by Colorado. Franklin Arias hit a three-run home run for High-A Greenville (Boston Red Sox organization), helping secure a win.
Owen Caissie of Triple-A Iowa (Chicago Cubs organization) matched his career high with his 22nd home run of the season during a three-hit game. Cooper Pratt delivered a walk-off single as part of a four-RBI performance for Double-A Biloxi (Milwaukee Brewers organization), while Jeferson Quero drove in five runs—including a home run—for Triple-A Nashville (also Milwaukee).
Tirso Ornelas returned from injury to hit two home runs for Triple-A El Paso (San Diego Padres organization), marking his first multihomer game since last September.
On the pitching side, Josh Bostick struck out 14 batters over six innings for High-A Eugene (San Francisco Giants organization), allowing just one run on four hits.
Wetherholt's consistent power at the top of Memphis' lineup continues to draw attention as he advances through the Cardinals’ farm system.
